Learn how to awaken and channel this powerful force through time-honoured practices like mantra chanting, visualisation, and mindfulness. By balancing your chakras, the subtle energy centres in your body, you can cultivate positive emotions like love, compassion, and inner peace. PRESENTER: Dr. Nandita Selvanathan is a biological research scientist whose work has taken her throughout India, Europe and the United Kingdom. She was born in Kashi (also known as Varanasi) - one of the oldest living cities in the world - and through both her educational and cultural background she can offer a uniquely detailed look at the customs and cuisine of her native land. As with many traditions around the globe, her informal education includes learning methods, techniques and the history of her cultural capital, which she shares through her many workshops around the province. She has been teaching Indian Culture and cuisine in Winnipeg for many years. Her work has been featured in the Winnipeg Free Press, and she has appeared on CBC Radio and CTV.

Joy is not beyond your reach! In this five-part series you will receive an overview of the building blocks for cultivating joy in your life. Come prepared to reflect, interact, laugh and be uplifted! Let’s Talk about Purpose: our session will focus on what purpose means, where to find it in our lives, and the question of whether we can have purpose throughout our lives no matter our age or condition. Let’s Talk about the Power of Thoughts: we explore our mindset and the extent to which we may be communicating from a place of worry and fear and how we can break that habit. Let’s Talk about Gratitude: this session will share some of the scientific research which reveals the benefits derived from gratitude, and how to develop an attitude of gratitude which is the secret sauce to a life that is experienced as full of wonder and blessings. Let’s Talk about Mindfulness: we’ll cover the ABCs of what mindfulness is all about and how to practice it anywhere, at any time, and discover how magical life can be when you bring all your senses to the table of life. Let’s Talk about Self-Care: addressing this vital yet often undervalued aspect of life, we explore why self-care matters and how you can build it into your daily life in easy and doable ways. Do you know your rights regarding hospital treatments or what terms like “heroic measures” and “DNR (Do Not Resuscitate)” orders mean? Join us for an informative presentation on Advance Care Planning (ACP) in Manitoba. This session will provide valuable insights and practical tools to help you navigate the complexities of creating a health care directive. Topics include: -Legal distinctions between a Health Care Directive (HCD) and Power of Attorney. -Your rights as a patient in making medical decisions. -How to choose and empower your health care proxy (substitute decision maker). -Step-by-step guidance on completing a Health Care Directive. -Understanding key terms like “heroic measures” and “artificial means.” -Review of the Dying With Dignity Canada ACP workbook and HCD form. -What to do—and avoid—once your directive is finalized. -Don’t miss this opportunity to gain clarity, take control of your medical future, and access resources to guide you every step of the way. PRESENTER Dorothy Stephens is the Advance Care Planning educator for Dying with Dignity. She has a Bachelor’s degree in nursing from the University of Manitoba and worked as a Registered Nurse in Winnipeg hospitals for 30 years. She also has experience as a caregiver and health care proxy for several family members, including during end-of-life care.
